On 12 October 2022, ISRT organized a memorable farewell program for its esteemed and distinguished faculty member, Prof. Dr. Sekandar Hayat Khan acknowledging the fulfillment of his 49 years of teaching journey and unreturnable contribution to this institute. Prof. Dr. A.S.M. Maksud Kamal, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic), joined the event as the chief guest, while the director of ISRT, Prof. Dr. M. Shafiqur Rahman, presided over the program. After serving in various universities at home and abroad since 1973, Prof. Dr. Sekandar Hayat Khan joined ISRT as an Associate Professor in 1993 and served the institute for over two decades. His tenure as the Director of ISRT, from Jan 1999 to Jan 2002, was remarkable for the fast development of ISRT. In addition to his numerous papers in various national and international peer-reviewed journals, he has published several books in Statistics. Prof. Khan also provided community services by establishing several schools and one college in his home district. Besides, he is the founding Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the ISRT alumni association. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), Prof. Dr. A.S.M. Maksud Kamal, said that an altruist like Prof. Khan is rare nowadays. He hoped that Prof. Khan would live through his works and good deeds. Prof. Khan expressed hope to work for the institute endlessly. ISRT family will remain indebted to this noble person and wish him a healthy and happy retired life.
