In this paper, a new generalized entropy measure is defined when the utility concept is taken into account. This includes various entropy measures as its particular cases. Also the measure defined by Bells and Guiasu (1968) and the new measures are characterized with the help of functional equations which also leads to new characterizations of some other measures.
