For the estimation of population mean using auxiliary information, a general class of estimators is proposed and some of its particular cases are considered. It is shown that the proposed class as well as particular estimators are more efficient than mean per unit estimator, usual ratio and product estimators, and the estimators considered by Bandyopadhyay (1980) and Selvenkataramana (1986). An empirical example Is also included for illustration.
