Expected Number of Survivors in Intercommunicating States

M.A. Islam and M.A. Jalil (1995). Expected Number of Survivors in Intercommunicating States. Journal of Statistical Research, Vol. 29, No. 1, pp.  41-50.

Abstract

This paper shows the solution for probability of surviving in a number of transient states using the Kolmogorov equations. The expected number of survivors have been shown for several intercommunicating states. A simple method of estimation has been suggested. It has been shown that the complexity of a multistate approach can be reduced virtually to a problem of two intercommunicating states for each state.
