Migration Models for Single Origin and Multiple Destinations

K.N.S. Yadava, S.K. Singh and G.S. Yadava (1989). Migration Models for Single Origin and Multiple Destinations. Journal of Statistical Research, Vol. 23, No. 1-2, pp.  ??-??.

Abstract

This paper aims to extend the migration models for single origin and multiple destinations proposed by previous authors (Singh and Yadava, 1974, 1979; Singh 1986; and Sivamurthy and Kadi, 1984). Some particular forms of the models are tested in the Indian situation. It is found that distance has a negligible role in explaining the rural-urban migration in India while past migrant stock variable measured in the form of opportunity has its major contribution.
