On Estimation of Total in Two Stage Sampling

P.K. Mahajan and S. Singh (1996). On Estimation of Total in Two Stage Sampling. Journal of Statistical Research, Vol. 30, No. 1, pp.  127-131.

Abstract

This paper proposes a class of estimation in two stage sampling for estimating population total of a character using auxiliary information, more efficient than the regression type estimator considered by Sahoo (1987). In view of the practical utility a class of estimators with estimated optimum values has been considered. Further it is shown than the proposed class with estimated optimum values attains the same asymptotic mean square error of the class of estimators based on optimum values.
