A Study of Jackknife Method of Estimation of Lognormal Models

Y.P. Chaubey and A.K. Srivastava (1996). A Study of Jackknife Method of Estimation of Lognormal Models. Journal of Statistical Research, Vol. 30, No. 1, pp.  49-65.

Abstract

This article examines the use of the Jackknife method for inference on the parameter \theta=\exp(a\mu+b\sigma^2) where \mu and \sigma^2 represent the mean and variance of a normal population, respectively. The exact distribution of the MLE of \theta is approximated using Edgeworth series expansion which is found to be adequate even when the moments are approximate, for sample size larger than 10. The approximation is further illustrated by computing the concentration probablities of the MLE and its Jackknife.
