Bayesian Estimation of Entropy with Applications in Model Diagnostics

D.K. Dey and A.K. Gangopadhyay (1996). Bayesian Estimation of Entropy with Applications in Model Diagnostics. Journal of Statistical Research, Vol. 30, No. 1, pp.  9-20.

Abstract

Entropy as a measure of uncertainty is no longer restricted to the domain of communication theory. It is being used in several branches of statistics. In this paper we consider a Bayesian method of estimation of entropy. We develop Laplace method of asymptotic approximation and exact calculation using Monte Carlo method. This method applied in detection of influential observations in linear and generalized linear methods.
