ISRT won their match in the inter-department football tournament against the Department of Soil and Environmental Sciences by 2-1 goals. ISRT will play their next match at the quarter final stage of the tournament. Anis (4th year student) scored both the goals for ISRT. Congratulations to all football players for the superb win. Dr. Tamanna Howlader has joined ISRT after successfully completing her PhD from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Concordia University, Canada. ISRT family congratulates Dr.Tamanna Howlader for her great achievement and also welcomes her back.

The Institute of Statistical Research and Training, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh is going to publish a special issue of the Journal of Statistical Research (JSR) in honor of Professor Bradley Efron, Department of Statistics, Stanford University, USA for his outstanding contributions to Statistical, Mathematical and Physical Sciences.

Institute of Statistical Research and Training, University of Dhaka is going to organise a Training Program on SPSS and Applied Statistics from June 1, 2010. Details of the program are in bellow.

ISRT is going to organize a Freshers' Reception for the 15th batch and Farewell for the 8th batch of Applied Statistics on April 6, 2009 at 10:00am.

Prof. Dr. A.A.M.S. Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of  University of Dhaka, will be the chief guest and Prof. Dr. Tazmeri S.A. Islam, Dean of Science Faculty of University of Dhaka, will be the special guest for the reception.

ISRT welcomes its 15th batch of students in Applied Statistics! It has been quite sometime since ISRT began its undergraduate and graduate program in Applied Statistics in 1994-1995. A list of alumni is available here. 

ISRT is a notable institute under the University of Dhaka, offerring quality education in the field of statistical sciences. Over 15000 collection in its own library, three fully equipped computer labs, experienced professors and energetic young faculty members are the core of ISRT's progress.

Professor Dr Amir Hossain became the new Director of ISRT on January 11, 2009. In a simple ceremony Mrs Begum Zainab, the outgoing Director, handed over the directorship to Dr Hossain. We congratulations Prof Hossain and also thank Mrs Zainab for successfully completing her tenure.
