Paritosh Kumar Roy

ISRT family is pleased to welcome Paritosh Kumar Roy, who has joined ISRT as a lecturer on August 26, 2010. Paritosh was a student of Batch-9 of Applied Statistics and graduated from the institute at the end of 2009. Before joining ISRT, Paritosh was working at the Institute of Microfinance (InM), Dhaka as a Research Associate.

Faculty update

  • A.S.M. Borhan and Muhammad Iftakhar Alam are selected for the Assistant Professor positions of ISRT and on August 25, 2010 they joined their new positions. Congratulations to both of them!
  • In the early morning of August 27, 2010, ISRT faculty A.S.M. Borhan went to Canada for higher studies. He will start his graduate studies at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada from September, 2010. We all wish him the best.

ISRT Lost in the Final

ISRT lost to the department of Applied Physics, Electronics and Communications by 2-0 goals in the final of the University of Dhaka inter-department football tournament, 2010. Department of Applied Physics score one goal each in both half of the match. A good number of ISRT faculty members and students enjoyed(?) the match in a Friday morning.

M. R. Bhuiyan

M. R. Bhuiyan, a former Professor of the Department Statistics, Biostatistics, and Informatics, University of Dhaka has died on August 17, 2010 at his home in Dhaka.

The Final

ISRT reached the final of the inter-department football tournament, 2010. In their semi-final match, ISRT beat the department of Mathematics by 2-0 goals. Anis scored the first goal at the end of the first half and Zia scored the second goal in the second half of the match. ISRT will play the final against the winner of the other semi-final between the department of Applied Physics and the department of Psychology.

ISRT reached the Semi-Final in Football

ISRT reached the semi-final of the inter-department football tournament. In their third match, ISRT beat the Department of Soil Science and Environment by 1-0 goal. Anis scored the all important goal for ISRT in the first half of the match. ISRT will play with the Department of Mathematics for a place in the final.

ISRT beat Department of Law in Football

ISRT reached the quarter-final stage of the inter-department football tournament. In their second match, ISRT beat the Department of Law in tie-breaker by 2-1 goals. The score was 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Zia scored the first goal for ISRT from a free kick in the first half and department of Law scored their goal in the second half to level the score.

ISRT beat Department of Microbiology in football

ISRT beat department of Microbiology by 4-0 goals in the first round of the inter-department football tournament, 2010. Anisur Rahman scored 2 goals and Saddam Bagmar and Tanjir Uddin Chowdhury scored one goal each. ISRT was leading 1-0 at the interval.
