Institute of Statistical Research and Training, University of Dhaka is going to organize Training Programs on ‘SPSS and Applied Statistics’ and ‘Stata and Applied Statistics’ from May 27 - June 23, 2013. Details of the program can be found below.

• Classes from May 27 - June 23, 2013, (Student: 2.00PM - 5.30PM and Professional: 6:00PM - 9:30PM)

• Limited seats: 35 professionals and 35 students only (for each program).

Venue:

ISRT won the runners up position in the Dhaka University Inter-department Chess Tournament 2013. Congratulations to the ISRT team which was formed with Ferdous Hossain (Batch 14), Nabil Awan (Batch 14), and Golam Saroare Shakil (Batch 14), and Syed Hasan Shahriar Miraj (Batch 15). The tournament was played in the Swiss League System consisting of 5 rounds and in each round there were 3 boards.

ISRT won total 4 rounds (11 boards). They lost only the first round and it was to the Arabic department. ISRT has managed to get very comprehensive victory against the departments of Law, Microbiology, Fisheries, and Sociology. Eighteen departments/institutes participated in the tournament and the Institute of Business Administration won the tournament.

• On February 12, ISRT faculties Mohammad Shahed Masud and M. Shafiqur Rahman have joined as associate professors. On the same day, Hasinur Rahaman Khan has joined as an assistant professor. ISRT family congratulates all of them.

• In their second match of the inter-department cricket tournament, ISRT lost to the Department of Computer Science by 43 runs. Batting first Department of Computer Science scored 147 runs in 20 overs and ISRT lost all their wickets to score 104 runs.
• In the first round of the inter-department cricket tournament ISRT beat the Department of Zoology by 55 runs. Batting first ISRT scored 147/4 in 20 overs. Abhijit and Imon scored a blistering knock of 45 each that enriched ISRT's total. In reply the Department of Zoology scored 92 runs for all wickets. Among ISRT bowlers Farhad was the pick to give a resounding victory against Zoology in front of a capacity crowd. He took 6 wickets for 12 runs in his 5 overs.

The orientation program of the new first year students of Applied Statistics (Batch - 19) will be held on Thursday, 17th January at 10:00 AM at the ISRT Seminar Room (Room no. 402). All the students of the 19th Batch are welcomed to ISRT as the new members of the family.

• On December 15, Md Mahsin has joined ISRT as an assistant professor. ISRT family congratulates M. Mahsin.
